I've been in an accessible web design frame of mind this week. With that in mind I introduce you to two tools that will help you check your pages for contrast and color blindness issues.

Besides,, these tools are not only useful - even if they are in sort of a perpetual beta state - they are down right amazing when you think of the technology and the algorithms (particularly Vischeck) that must go crunchy behind the scenes when they do what they do.

Color Blindness Checking

Vischeck

Enter the URL of any web page in the box and have it tested for three types of color blindness.

After you submit your page Vischeck will generate a link to a page that shows you how people see the colors of your page who have one of the three types of color blindness. The process takes a little time so be patient. It's worth the wait.

Color Contrast Checking

Colour Contrast Analyser 1.0

This is a very simple tool that you run from your computer to check foreground and background colors to see if the contract is sufficient as defined by the W3C. You'll find the link for the program toward the bottom of the page.
