There are many online tools that'll help you choose suitable fonts for your web pages, but I stumbled on one the other day that was a real show stopper. Good enough for me to say, "Hey, Bud you've got to tell your Joy Gems readers about this one."

The best thing about Font Tester is that it lets you test your font ideas in real time. You can do side by side comparisons of font styles, colors, and backgrounds by making selections from the menu on the left side of the page. You can even exchange their Latin copy with your own text.

What a great tool. I could play with this thing forever!!

It also has a Character Map, so you can see all the characters of a given font with a mere change of the font type.

Check out all those style properties you can try out - text-transform, line-height and letter-spacing are just a few CSS font and text properties you can experiment with. This tool is a hoot. Free too!!

Here's what I like best. It's easy. It's intuitive. You don't have to spend time figuring it out. It comes from the "Don't Make Me Think" school of design. If there is a negative - and it's tiny - it doesn't generate the CSS code when you make your choices. Maybe it does but I didn't see that function anywhere.

I love fonts. Read my old JG Fonts, Fonts, Fonts that goes into the basic things you need to know about fonts for the web.

Have fun with Font Tester. I'm going back there right now.

This is all so FONTASTIC!!
