No, there is nothing wrong with your eyes or your computer. If this version of Joy Gems looks different, it's because IT IS!!
I hope you like it because I'm doing this for you. Yes, the visual appeal is certainly better (I hope), but so is the way I will be presenting information.
Useful information is what The Joy Gems Newsletter is first and foremost about. A JG is a short article that deals with web design which I release every other Thursday. It is for those who are new to web design or those who are moving beyond the beginner phase.
Plus, it's my way of staying in touch with many of my students, clients, and even a few friends by letting them know where and how to get my web design training and consulting services.
Look over to the left and you'll see two new regular features. The first is the Recommended Book and a link to the Bookstore on my site. The other is my free conference Call In service - should you have any questions about web design. "Should I learn Dreamweaver?" "What do I need to know to do web design?" "How can I fix the mess someone else made?" "What books should I buy?" These are typical questions raised during a Call-In.
You Think This Is Easy?
Getting formatted email to look right is not easy. It entails trying to make yahoo, aol, gmail, hotmail, Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express and the others happy by rendering my layout as designed. That said, I expect there will be a few real messes here. If that's the case and if you can't read this, please let me know which email client you are using and I'll see if I can fix the design problem.
A Touch Of History
This is the fourth iteration of JG. For those of you who've been around from the start - and for everyone who reads my JGs - I say "Good For you and Thank You Too!!" JG was born as a plain text email, moved to a online network, moved to the JG Dark BLue era (just concluded), and now this version. Throughout, its purpose has been the same - to share with you my fascination with how web sites are made.
For whatever reason, I just have to tell you what I've learned. Why? Go figure.
Pass Me On
Let's not keep JG a secret anymore. Please tell someone who needs to know about designing for the web that they can get some good info every other Thursday. Forward JG.
